Career Advisor: Start Today with New Energy for your Job Search!
Put new energy behind your job search starting today. The success or lack thereof that you have experienced in your job search is 100% based on the decisions you have made up until this very moment in time. If you want to improve the results you t continue to make the same decisions going forward. For the next ten days, conduct a time study of your job search activities.
Write down how many hours you dedicate daily to your search, how many resumes you submit, how much time you spend researching, how many
interviews or informational interviews you schedule, etc. Tally how much of your time was spent building your network or directly marketing yourself to hiring authorities in companies you have targeted – since these are the two
most effective ways to secure employment in this job market. Track the number
of people you added to your network daily. Also track the number of resumes you
submitted directly to hiring authorities in companies you have targeted. These
are two of the most important numbers to track in addition to the numbers of
interviews.
At the end of the ten day time study, compile the averages for each activity
per day. For instance, if you send out 8 resumes one day and 4 the next day
your two day average is 6 resumes. When you look at your daily averages for
each area of activity, you will know where you have to place more of your
attention in order to put new energy in our job search.
